I'm proud of you and all of the things you are recognizing but most of all for the change. That takes a strong person to admit that and be willing to change! I'm so glad we've become friends this year!!

I didn't know that - I am sorry that you went through that last week. It's so good to read your feelings and how blessed you were by the life your g-gma led. What a huge blessing. I just can't wait till we all get to be with our Lord and loved ones again someday. I know that will be a great day for the two of you. I hope you're doing well. Let me know if you want to go to lunch.

Great reminder. We were discussing a lot of those same topics you mention in our LifeGroup last night. It's a daily struggle to remember that God has OVERCOME it all.

Love is a tricky thing. Grief is the cost that we pay for loving someone. The questions I always asking myself is, “was this person worth the love?” “Is this grief worth it?” The answer to the question finds its way back to my relationship with Christ. For example, if I love someone in Christ and His purposes, then if the grief comes it is bearable. The reason that it is bearable is because that my relationship with Christ was inline. On the hand, if I seek a relationship out with out Christ, when the grief comes, the pain of the relationship grief is compounded by my misalignment with Christ. My relationship with Christ is paramount above all relationships. That is the reason that it is the filter that I view all other relationship.

Keep in mind that I am a guy and my mind is wired differently ;)

I think love, vulnerability, trust, etc. are all very challenging to us girls since God made us to be such emotional and caring beings. I do agree that we are to love as Christ loves, but one thing I've realized is my natural tendency to love is somewhat different than Christ's. When I think of His love, it is all about the actual person He is loving - not so much about the relationship between He and that person. A lot of hurt can come if we love the relationship as much as the person. Christ has the Godlyability of unconditional love, which despite our greatest efforts is a challenge.
God also tells us to - 'Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life' Proverbs 4:23. Dang, that's pretty powerful. He encourages us to not give our hearts to others and let ourselves be impacted to the point of affecting our lives.
Being vulnerable is something I struggle with and have been learning that being vulnerable to someone really has nothing to do with that person but more about growing myself and allowing myself to grow closer to Him. I definitely don't think we should live our lives avoiding the pain, but I also think through the pain He is teaching us to put our hearts in Him only.
